There are two big reasons to share Scrappy with your pets.
1) Your Pet
Scrappy snacks are crafted to have a flavor and texture that make them irresistible to your best friend (many folks refer to Scrappy snacks as “Mutt Crack”). This means that you’re giving your pet great joy and a great incentive. The promise of a Scrappy will strongly encourage your pooch, kitty, ferret or otter to listen to reason, whether it be “come to me”, “sit and stay” or “go to the closet and pick out a shirt for me to wear today”. Fawn Pierre, Founder of SmartyPup! uses Scrappy in all of her classes when she wants to teach old dogs new tricks, or new dogs old tricks. And she gives a Scrappy whenever she is reminded how much she loves her little guys. Don't forget, a little goes a long way. About 30 dog bites or 100 kitty nibbles in each pack.
2) The Planet
We work with Farmers and Ranchers who care as much about the animals they raise and the land they manage as you do about your pets. They go beyond organic when it comes to humane animal treatment and environmental practices. No antibiotics or hormones in the animals, mean no antibiotics or hormones in our diet, your pets diet and equally importantly in the air, water and earth. Same goes for growing the grass and feed for those animals- no petroleum derived pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers in our air, water or earth. Not just less carbon and less poison, but more good stuff. When you share your love for your pet by snacking on Scrappy, you are sharing love with a whole planet full of people and pets.
Our team of foragers gather the meat from our ranchers that for aesthetic reasons can’t go onto grocery shelves. These selected bits are highly valuable sources of nutrition. Then we add a little local love and some organic spices when we prepare these delicious snacks in San Francisco. Taking this food out of the waste stream, putting it into the food stream and creating a healthy revenue stream for our ranchers ensures that when you buy Scrappy snacks, you are investing in the future of your Pet and the future of our Planet.
The Scrappy Way
There is no better way to show your love for your pet than to give them a Scrappy snack. And nothing is more fun than seeing how much your pet loves Scrappy. At Scrappy, we share the love with everyone that works hard to bring you and your pet the best food possible. You and your pet are joining the Scrappy Pack as pioneers for a new way to feed ourselves that is fair for everyone. Let our pets, who can sniff goodness, lead us to a better, healthier, happier life. When you buy Scrappy snacks, you are investing in the future of your Pet and the future of our Planet.
For seven generations the Swickards have been raising cattle in Northern California. Their Angus Cross has been bred over this time to flourish on the pastures they roam. This rich tradition of ranching, respect for their land and pride in their cattle, make the Swickard family perfect partners with the Scrappy family.
The meat we celebrate is the righteous kind, from healthy animals of sound genetics that have been treated humanely and allowed to pursue their natural instincts. Antibiotics and growth hormones are not part of the system. The environment is respected, and fair labor is practiced. Heritage Foods USA purchases 200 Heritage pigs a week, each and every week, from a network of about 25 independent farms. These pigs are processed and cut into parts under the watchful eye and skilled hands of our partners at Paradise Locker Meats in Trimble, Missouri.
Mary's Free-Range Chickens are produced by Pitman Farms, a family owned business that has been raising poultry for three generations. Don Pitman began raising free-range turkeys and chickens in 1954. His son, Rick, continued to raise turkeys and named them after his wife, Mary. Their son, David, continued the family tradition of raising chickens. Our turkeys and chickens are named after Mary because she has studied nutrition and read labels for 25 years, looking for pure products in an effort to regain her health. Mary's Chickens are chickens that Mary would buy for her family.
